In this exclusive interview, IoT Business News sits down with Steven Baker, Chief Product Officer at KORE*, to discuss the company’s groundbreaking achievements, recent technological advancements, and strategic initiatives in the rapidly evolving Internet of Things (IoT) landscape.

From the acquisition of Twilio’s IoT connectivity business to the development of cutting-edge eUICC technology, Steven provides insights into how KORE is positioning itself as a leader in the market. He also shares success stories, highlights partnerships, and outlines the company’s future plans, offering a comprehensive overview of KORE’s vision and impact in the IoT space.

IoT Business News: Can you elaborate on KORE’s most significant achievements in the IoT space over the past year and how these have positioned the company in the market?

Steven Baker: The acquisition of Twilio’s IoT connectivity business unit has brought KORE an unparalleled combination of carrier IMSI and eUICC product capability. It has also positioned KORE with a highly scalable route to market with a self-service, developer-centric model enabling KORE to capitalize on the OEM drive for built-in connectivity during the manufacturing process.

Over the last year KORE has also launched the Pre-configured Solutions (PCS) business unit focused on delivering high-value IoT enablement services incorporating connectivity, hardware, and managed services into pre-configured bundles that reduce the complexity of deploying IoT applications.

KORE has also reached over 19 million IoT subscriptions in service making KORE one of the largest IoT MVNOs in the world.

What are the latest technological advancements that KORE has integrated into its IoT solutions? How are these innovations enhancing your offerings compared to your competitors?

One of the most recent technological advancements KORE has released is an eUICC technology called the Local Profile Management Applet. The KORE LPM Applet enables a host CPU to manage previously downloaded eSIM profiles locally using AT commands. This capability can be used to implement device-initiated fallback, device-initiated failover, resiliency, and similar advanced capabilities. The LPM applet combines the simplicity and reliability of M2M orchestration with the flexibility and power of local profile management, in a manner that’s forward-compatible with the SGP32 IoT standard. The applet interface is based on the SGP22 ES10 standard ensuring developers who use it get to keep their investment as they eventually migrate to SGP22 and SGP32 solutions.

Could you share a recent customer success story that highlights the effectiveness of KORE’s IoT solutions in transforming their business operations?

A key element of KORE’s ability to positively impact our customer’s business operations is through our multi-country, managed service and logistics solutions. KORE has a long history serving Healthcare OEMs and DMEs with critical healthcare logistics solutions. KORE launched an initiative to reduce waste and support sustainability by reducing the size of card bodies in its SIM shipments, which ties into “IoT for Good” – a key initiative here at KORE that leverages innovations in IoT such as SIM and connectivity to enable us to live greener and longer, all while making informed, intelligent use of our global resources. Since the commercial launch of SIM cards three decades ago, approximately 4.5 billion SIM cards are sold and shipped each year industry-wide, accounting for more than 560,000 tons of carbon dioxide and 18,000+ tons of plastic waste annually. While the SIM card has reduced in size over the last three decades, the packaging the card body that holds the SIM has not. The KORE initiative reduces the card body by 50% and, relating to SIM cards, is expected to:

  • Reduce shipping costs by 50% due to the weight reduction
  • Reduce KORE’s carbon footprint by 16%
  • Aid customers in reducing plastic waste by 50%

Looking ahead, what are the next big steps for KORE in terms of product development and market strategies? Are there any upcoming innovations or technologies that you are particularly excited about introducing to the market?

KORE is evolving our eSIM technology to incorporate the SGP.32 (IoT) standard and increasing our coverage footprint with in-country coverage in the APAC region. “IoT for Good” Paves the Way to a Greener Tomorrow

By Romil Bahl, president and CEO of KORE, a global leader in IoT solutions and pioneering IoT hyperscaler.

As our world becomes increasingly connected, technology is often portrayed as a villain, sent to invade our privacy and steal our jobs; however, the real narrative of Internet of Things (IoT) is quite different.

“IoT for Good” – the application of IoT technologies to improve social, economic, and environmental issues – flips the often “doom and gloom” narrative of technology by showcasing positive, real-world applications of IoT in our daily lives.

From making our cities smarter and greener to expanding the scope and reach of healthcare in the face of adversity, connected devices are actively being deployed to make a positive global impact, which comprises the heart and soul of the “IoT for Good” movement.

By 2027, the number of households using IoT-connected devices like smart appliances and smart security cameras is expected to more than double; however, the benefits of these devices extend beyond starting your washing machine from the train. Smart devices not only add convenience to our daily lives, but they can help customers lessen their environmental footprint and save money in the process. From washing machines that track water usage, to thermostats that send automatic alerts when usage goals are exceeded, IoT is taking the guess work out of household energy consumption and enabling customers to save valuable time, money, and resources – all while making the planet a bit greener.

“IoT for Good” is also tackling your dirty work, like taking out the trash. Smart waste container management simplifies waste disposal for residents by tracking the frequency and volume of trash disposal. This information is used to enable wireless monitoring to prevent expensive overages.

Effective waste container management is essential for smart cities aiming to modernize and optimize essential services like waste management. It also facilitates wireless fleet tracking, container volume monitoring, and comprehensive management report generation for cities, towns and private businesses alike. IoT enhances waste management services, benefiting residents and city officials by improving efficiency, environmental friendliness, and cost-effectiveness.

In this case study, the value of “IoT for Good’” is highlighted as residents use chip-enabled swipe cards to access waste bins, while sensors monitor the number of bags disposed. This enables municipalities to automatically bill residents for exceeding their allocated limit and prevents misuse of resident bins by businesses. Additionally, sensors issue alerts when containers reach full capacity, aiding officials in monitoring their waste management fleet, thus minimizing overflow and ensuring uninterrupted service. Real-time data collection, monitoring, and analysis in waste management processes not only boost efficiency and cost-effectiveness, but also promote sustainable and eco-friendly waste handling practices.

IoT also promotes health equity by diversifying the ways patients can access healthcare, which is crucial in the face of pandemics and other threats that further strain already taxed hospital systems. Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) solutions, for example, empower healthcare providers to oversee patients outside of traditional clinical environments, fostering increased care accessibility, cost reduction, and decreased hospital visits. Devices like blood glucose meters, heart rate monitors, and surveillance monitors transmit data via wireless networks to clinicians, enabling hybrid healthcare environments – i.e. virtual wards. These devices utilize IoT connectivity to improve patient outcomes and extend the scope of care provided by clinical staff.

Connected Health (CH) and Telemedicine are crucial companions to RPM, helping to bridge the gap left by the pandemic, our growing aging population, and even conflicts such as the war in Ukraine – all of which are more connected than one might think.

Another case study, GrandPad is a pioneering communication tool tailored for seniors that aims to effortlessly connect them with loved ones and caregivers at the touch of a button. Such devices can also be lifesaving, instantly connecting users to EMS if the need arises. GrandPad enables seniors – as well as those living with disabilities and/or in remote locations – to receive care from the comfort of their own home, avoiding often difficult and costly hospital visits. And in regions devastated by conflict such as Ukraine, where the elderly population has been disproportionately affected, GrandPad bridges the gap by connecting senior refugees with their loved ones.

As divided as the world can often seem, there is one truth that unites us – we’re in this together. Global issues – climate change and pandemics – affect all of us. IoT-powered CH solutions like RPM and telehealth, as well as smart home and waste management solutions, serve the greater good by inching us closer to a sustainable future. IoT-driven sustainability solutions in the private, public, and business sector lay out a blueprint for a brighter tomorrow, wherein technology can be applied to tackle our greatest obstacles. The future is undoubtedly connected, and with the help of initiatives like “IoT for Good,” it can also be one to which we all look forward.

KORE Supports GrandPad Mission to Help Seniors Age in Place with IoT

Easy access and solution simplicity provide seniors independence through technology.

KORE* announced today its alliance with GrandPad, a revolutionary service that allows seniors to connect with loved ones and caregivers at the touch of a button.

Part of KORE’s “IoT for Good” initiative, KORE’s services help older adults to “age in place,” which the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention defines as “the ability to live in one’s own home and community safely, independently, and comfortably.” A key piece of aging in place is connecting seniors to family and caregivers simply and affordably, which is where KORE’s relationship with GrandPad comes into play.

Powered by KORE’s robust IoT connectivity solutions, GrandPad is an easy-to-use communication device allowing seniors to connect to vital caregivers and family members by making video calls, sending voice messages, and viewing media. GrandPad is specially designed for older adults with little to no computer experience who have resisted conventional modern technology and may have diminishing eyesight, motor skills, hearing, or cognition.

Romil Bahl, KORE President and CEO, said KORE is honored to provide its extensive IoT technology to help seniors age with grace and dignity.

“As technology pioneers, it’s our duty to use advancements in the field to help our aging population,” said Bahl. “Technological progress isn’t really progress unless it’s helping us live fuller, longer lives. KORE’s ‘IoT for Good’ initiative aims to accomplish just that.”

The keys to GrandPad’s success are simplicity, security and reliability, which work together to enable independence, said GrandPad CEO and Co-Founder Scott Lien.

“When a senior taps the ‘Help’ button on their GrandPad, our Member Experience agents are there to answer questions or resolve any issue as quickly as possible,” Lien said.

“The goal is for our seniors to have the utmost confidence that our product will help when they need it. This allows them to live comfortably and independently.”

As lifespans continue to increase, the number of adults over 60 requiring long-term care will more than triple over the next three decades, according to The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), making access to solutions like GrandPad more important than ever.

KORE Announces Retail Offering with Fixed Wireless Access

High-bandwidth 5G connectivity is a plug-and-play solution for retail and restaurant applications.

KORE, the global pure-play Internet of Things (“IoT”) hyperscaler, and provider of IoT Connectivity, Solutions and Analytics, has announced the launch of its new vertical offering in retail solutions.

The retail industry is rapidly undergoing a digital transformation, and KORE has aligned its portfolio to offer high-bandwidth solutions to meet these needs.

The KORE Retail solution includes high bandwidth 5G cellular connectivity through fixed wireless access (FWA) to provide high-speed internet access traditionally available through wireline solutions. As many new retail applications rely on higher data volume and speed, a 5G network can offer greater bandwidth to support these new and evolving applications.

“Digital transformation is rapidly picking up steam across retail and restaurant chains, and we are seeing some interesting applications within this segment,” KORE President and CEO Romil Bahl said.

“Moving entirely to cellular connectivity or leveraging cellular as a failover technology is not easy. KORE has worked hard to make it simple to adopt through our fixed wireless access solutions.”

Retailers and restaurants, in particular, are seeing the benefits of adding 5G solutions on-site, because this high-bandwidth connectivity supports the segment’s growing digital needs beyond point-of-sales devices, including connected tablets, digital ordering, third-party integrations with delivery services, video analytics and many other connected technologies to streamline operations and eliminate the wired/wireless divide. Adding best-in-class 5G technology and connectivity, however, can be challenging, especially when addressing the different carrier needs in locations across the country.

With this new pre-configured solution, KORE is providing high bandwidth digital transformation enablement to a national restaurant chain. KORE is leveraging Cradlepoint Netcloud with 5G wireless edge solutions as this restaurant chain moves to modernize its connectivity by leveraging 5G cellular across its hundreds of U.S. locations.

Without utilizing KORE as a connectivity provider, this restaurant chain would have had to individually source cellular connectivity based on location. KORE is able to provide a singular approach to multi-carrier connectivity and also provide this customer with a connectivity management platform to control and monitor its usage and billing in a unified approach. KORE is also providing onboarding via its customer success department and 24/7 support throughout the implementation of the solution, making the deployment simple, seamless and decreasing time to market.

The KORE OmniSIM SAFE connectivity solution is an innovative eSIM approach that uses the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA) IoT SIM Applet For Secure End-2-End (SAFE) standard. This standard enables device manufacturers and IoT providers to use the SIM as a root of trust to protect IoT data communications. This enables a standardized, device-level approach to security.

AWS IoT Core connects with the SIM to simplify secure device provisioning and management, as well as message routing to AWS services. From deployment to management, this is a holistic approach to widespread device security and dovetails with Massive IoT, because the KORE OmniSIM SAFE supports zero-touch provisioning – pairing device to cloud with minimal physical intervention.

“IoT is positioned to grow exponentially through this decade as organizations seek ways to optimize and streamline operations. An estimated 75 billion devices are expected to be connected by 2030, but with those connected devices comes a unique set of challenges,” said KORE President and CEO Romil Bahl.

“IoT security can be an area of concern across industries due to a lack of standardization and a fragmented ecosystem – this broadened landscape of devices exposes more security attack surfaces in kind. We are proud to deliver innovation in IoT security by using AWS.”

KORE first launched its OmniSIM SAFE solution working with Energy Web, a nonprofit organization focused on building open-source software to accelerate the energy transition. The Energy Web stack enables enterprises to build and operate production-grade applications by leveraging decentralized technologies. One of the significant aims of Energy Web is to lower the use of carbon to meet global decarbonization targets.

“We are incredibly proud of KORE’s leadership in the eSIM space and could not be more excited about the power of their technology powered by AWS and the Energy Web stack,” said Jesse Morris, CEO of Energy Web Foundation. “We are on the cusp of a digital revolution for energy systems across the world; technologies like these must be deployed at scale in order for governments and corporations around the world to achieve decarbonization targets by 2030.”

The participation of multiple organizations to simplify the use of IoT is the next evolution of how this technology is adopted.

“It is critical for end-to-end IoT security that devices are provisioned with individual, unique security credentials that are securely stored with the device. The logistics of managing the provisioning of large fleets of IoT devices can be complex for customers and not all IoT devices may offer secure on-device storage for credentials,” said Yasser Alsaied, vice president of IoT at AWS. “We are excited to offer our AWS IoT Core customers a holistic approach to IoT security.”

KORE and Myia Health Join Forces to Enable Remote Home-Based Care of Chronically Sick Patients

Hospital systems investing in virtual care turn to IoT managed services to enable remote patient monitoring platforms.

KORE, a global leader in Internet of Things (IoT) services and solutions, today announced that it has teamed up with Myia Health, an enterprise platform for healthcare delivery in the home, to provide major hospitals with software and IoT managed services that ensure IoT devices are kitted and shipped to patients who are being treated where they live.

The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the pace of digital transformations in all industries, especially in the healthcare sector.

“The connected health segment has experienced 18 years’ worth of innovation and IoT adoption during the 18 months of the pandemic,” said KORE President and CEO Romil Bahl. “And the pace isn’t slowing down. Virtual patient care and remote patient monitoring have become the go-forward norm in part because IoT has matured, and we can service this demand with our one-stop-shop IoT enablement services.”

Powered by advanced data analytics, Myia’s platform connects clinical actions with patient outcomes and identifies patients with the greatest need for high-touch care. When a patient is identified as vulnerable in a population or upon discharge from the hospital, KORE and Myia collaborate to handle the device logistics and deploy Myia’s patient and clinician software technology that allows healthcare providers to manage patients’ health in a continuous and preventative manner from the home.

Hospitals have consistently encountered the same significant logistics hurdles, though, as they attempt to build their virtual care/virtual hospital strategies. The virtual care experience is possible because of the advancement in market-ready health monitoring devices and improved choice in and reliability of the required connectivity for those devices. Take, for example, a hospital located in the mid-western part of the U.S. It typically adds 5,000 remote patients annually, and each of those patients has on average three health monitoring devices.

Before leveraging KORE, this hospital was handling the sourcing and logistics for 15,000 devices that were out in the field. The hospital quickly realized that it made more sense to outsource these services to a third party to manage the sourcing, servicing, kitting and retrieval of those devices.

“Hospitals prefer to stick to their knitting and focus on giving care, not the details of ensuring a heart monitor device has arrived at the home of the patient and will work out of the box, including connectivity and secure flow of data,” Bahl said.

Myia CEO and Co-Founder, Simon MacGibbon, said:

“Myia utilizes its advanced analytics and machine learning to partner with major hospital systems to provide the digital infrastructure of their virtual operations, which fuels and optimizes patient outcomes, clinical operations and the economics of these state-of-the-art virtual command centers where many thousands of patients can be monitored and preventatively managed in near-real time.”

“KORE plays a fundamental role in the success of these endeavors because it handles all of the managed services and logistics of making sure the right devices are delivered to the right patients at the right time.”

With a chronic heart failure patient, for example, KORE kitting and logistics capabilities are critical to ensure the cellular connected sensors and tablet arrive at the home of the patient with the proper software and configuration. KORE integrates sensors that capture vital health stats such as blood pressure and oxygen levels along with temperature and patient weight. KORE testing ensures a flawless out-of-the-box experience at a most critical point in the patient’s recovery process.

“The ultimate outcome is that we’re helping keep people healthy after an acute event so that they don’t have to go back to the hospital and are as well-managed and healthy as possible. This ultimately will help improve patient outcomes, and drive down overall healthcare costs and utilization,” MacGibbon said.

As hospitals move into the new norm of virtual care, they are no longer just hospital caregivers. The hospitals now have a highly complex, home-based logistics piece of their business that they have never before encountered. AI, technology, and specialized managed services are enabling hospitals to make their visions for virtual care a reality, as effectively as possible, while ensuring the behind-the-scenes processes are as streamlined and cost-efficient as possible.

An average feed mill services a range of 500 to 5,000 bins to deposit with feed on a weekly basis at farms around the world.

Deploying KORE IoT connectivity and IoT solutions, BinSentry dramatically increases feed mills’ operational efficiencies by modernizing antiquated processes.

KORE, a global leader in Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and worldwide IoT Connectivity-as-a-Service (IoT CaaS), today announced that BinSentry, an international AgTech company, has selected KORE as its IoT partner-of-choice to modernize time-worn measurement systems and drive operational efficiencies.

The two companies are enabling sectors of the agricultural ecosystem to innovate and leapfrog current methods, resulting in reduced costs, product waste, and time.

For decades, farmers have used a manual process to forecast the amount of feed they order. Still today, farmers bang mallets against the side of huge silos and place orders with feed mills based on the sound made by the strike, causing inaccurate forecasts and resulting in under-filling, over-filling feed transfers and late deliveries to bins. This traditional method tends to be expensive and wasteful because an information deficit exists.

An average feed mill services a range of 500 to 5,000 bins to deposit with feed on a weekly basis at farms around the world. The logistics of delivering feed requires good data so that mills can operate efficient production and supply chain processes.

KORE President and CEO Romil Bahl, said:

“This is the ‘decade of IoT,’ and in many industries, like agriculture, healthcare, and fleet management, it’s an exciting time of exploration and innovation — much like what I imagine the Industrial Revolution was like at the turn of the 20th century.”

“Through our work with BinSentry, we’re providing an IoT one-stop-shop to some of the most recognizable commercial outfits in the farming industry, resulting in data-powered delivery route optimization, accurate feed forecasting and ordering, and increased automation of the inventory tracking and ordering process. With access to a conduit of IoT connectivity, asset monitoring, and APIs, the average feed mill has the potential to save millions of dollars.”

KORE powers the BinSentry automated feed ordering platform with a single-source of reliable IoT connectivity that makes it easy for feed mills to gauge quickly and accurately in-bin feed levels on vast farms located globally. The feed mills then acquire and manipulate critical data streaming off of those bins in real-time via APIs so that they can plan their supply and delivery based on real-time data at the individual silo level.

Bringing efficiencies to on-farm inventory monitoring, ordering, and restocking with IoT technologies and analytics has an important knock-on effect. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, agriculture accounted for an estimated 10.5 percent of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions in 2018 of which feed deliveries are contributors. Farms and feed mills are already struggling with sustainable production on top of handling and organizing massive amounts of resources. With access to mission-critical information and data that is pulled from the IoT enabled monitors, feed mill trucks are able to deliver the right amount of feed at the right time to the right farm and travel between 15 percent to 25 percent fewer miles, significantly reducing the feed mills carbon footprint, reducing their labor needs and saving costs.

“BinSentry was founded four years ago to solve the information deficit that is a significant pain point in the relationship between feed mills and their farmers and growers,” said Randall Swartzentruber, founder and CEO, BinSentry. “Our goal with BinSentry is to close that information gap, and the best way to do that is with IoT connected devices sending accurate and reliable data to a comprehensive feed ordering automation software, enabled by the comprehensive and future-forward wireless networks being provided by KORE. Now, our feed mill customers can look at their dashboards and in real-time see exactly how much product exists in every single feed bin that they service, act proactively to manage demand and then plan accordingly. It takes only 15 minutes to install the IoT-powered sensors to solve a 40-year-old problem.”

KORE Customers Will Have First Access to New National LoRaWAN Network.

KORE today announced that it is expanding its international partnership with Everynet, the world’s largest network operator for national LoRaWAN® networks, into the U.S. at a time when the need to capture and transport small packets of data is growing and use cases for Massive IoT are accelerating.

According to Transforma Insights, by 2025, 358 million Massive IoT devices will exist in the U.S. and over 2 billion devices globally. This trend is one of several that is fueling the expanded relationship between the two companies.

“Our relationship with Everynet is battle-tested in Brazil where we started our partnership some three years ago, and we are bringing those learnings into the U.S. as LoRa begins to mature in this country,” said KORE President and CEO Romil Bahl.

“While most people think of KORE as the global, independent leader in cellular IoT CaaS, the reality is we also integrate satellite bearers and provide services related to unlicensed cellular technologies like LoRa.”

Leveraging the KORE and Everynet partnership, for example, water utilities can operate, maintain, and monetize a water distribution system efficiently. Water metering is a Massive IoT use case that requires a variety of connectivity needs on the network, not just big bandwidth provided by cellular connectivity, which makes LoRaWAN a well-suited connectivity technology.

KORE customers will have the opportunity to take advantage of the new LoRaWAN network Everynet is currently building in the U.S. This coincides well with the impending 2G and 3G sunsets, as IoT customers create migration plans that leverage lower-complexity connectivity for simpler IoT use cases. LoRaWAN provides customers with IoT connectivity options that ensure the transition from 2G and 3G is seamless. LoRaWAN is also gaining ground because of its network longevity, broad coverage characteristics, and the ability to lower the overall total cost of ownership of networks.

Everynet expects its LoRaWAN network to be operational in 36 cities and 100 logistics points by the end of November 2021. Already, the company systems have been fully integrated into the KORE platforms for the U.S. market to enable customers to simplify their Massive IoT deployments.

KORE and Everynet have a proven track record of success working together to reduce the complexity most organizations face when rolling out IoT initiatives. Since 2018, the two companies have been partnering in Brazil to deploy multiple solutions, leveraging the LoRaWAN network and the KORE platform for message brokerage and device management developed at its innovation hub, KORE Labs. The companies have implemented gas metering, water metering, and asset monitoring solutions throughout Brazil for industrial companies, municipalities, and manufacturers.

“We’re delighted to bring this compelling offering to the U.S. market with KORE, by building on our successes and learnings abroad,” said Lawrence Latham, Chief Executive Officer of Everynet. “Important advantages organizations will experience with a national LoRaWAN network are secure ultra-low cost connections, long-battery life, and a simple means to connect billions of devices to the cloud. We are looking forward to working with KORE Wireless to help businesses gain operational efficiencies, enable innovation, and create new business models.”

KORE Enabled IoT Technology Powers Drones to Deliver Critical Medical Assets

Swoop Aero leverages KORE satellite connectivity and eSIM technology to deliver vaccines and medical supplies in remote and rural parts of the world.

KORE, a global leader in Internet of Things solutions and worldwide Connectivity-as-a-Service, will showcase the innovative enablement of IoT connectivity that is making it possible for Australian drone-powered logistics company Swoop Aero to transport COVID-19 vaccines into isolated areas of the world.

Swoop Aero’s air logistics solution enables the reliable transport of medical commodities, including early pathology samples, diagnosis kits, antiretroviral therapy medication and vitamins across Malawi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique as well as Australia, the United Kingdom and the Pacific. This effort supports the respective Ministries of Health in delivering medical supplies to hard-to-reach areas.

“We’re living in the most technologically advanced society of all time,” said KORE President and CEO Romil Bahl.

“I’m grateful every day that the IoT connectivity and solutions we provide are being used so that people in the remotest parts of the world are not forgotten or overlooked. Medical caregivers rely heavily on Swoop Aero’s ability to consistently transport the medicine that doctors and nurses need to care for citizens living in remote locations. Failure is not an option.”

Drone technology, paired with robust connectivity solutions, is leveling the playing field for people who live in remote and rural regions of the world. Using medical drone logistics within the existing health supply chain enables better access to essential medical commodities with reduced human interaction. This is a primary reason why the use of drones within the health supply chain has exponentially increased in the wake of the pandemic and, as the world begins to reopen, represents the “new normal.”

Critical to the success of this novel endeavor are the satellite and cellular redundancy and failover systems KORE provides to ensure fleets of drones are consistently operational.

“The ability to communicate reliably anywhere in the world, anytime, allows Swoop Aero to deploy a reliable, sustainable and scalable drone logistics network bridging the last mile and enabling equitable health access to anyone anywhere,” said Swoop Aero CEO Eric Peck.

KORE representatives will be attending Mobile World Congress and showcasing the solution during a private presentation with the King of Spain and his senior dignitaries. Additionally, a public presentation on the innovation will take place at Mobile World Congress Barcelona on Tuesday, June 29, at 9 a.m. CET.

KORE Critical Asset Monitoring Solution Now Available in AWS Marketplace

Launch simplifies procurement and deployment of solution for real-time asset tracking and condition monitoring of in-transit goods globally.

KORE last week announced the availability of Critical Asset Monitoring in AWS Marketplace.

Critical Asset Monitoring (CAM), powered by Visilion, is a comprehensive solution that enables businesses to visualize and mitigate the risks associated with global, multi-modal supply chain operations.

AWS Marketplace is a digital catalog with thousands of software listings from ISVs that makes it easy to find, test, buy, and deploy software and services that run on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The ability to procure CAM through AWS Marketplace makes it easier than ever for manufacturers, freight forwarders, and logistics organizations to mitigate risks, ensure quality, and certify chain of custody.

Romil Bahl, President and CEO of KORE, said:

“The complexity of deploying IoT solutions has held businesses back for far too long, and this includes monitoring mission-critical assets across supply chains and cold chains the world over.”

“We are committed to driving innovation for our customers and launching the CAM solution in the AWS Marketplace is another way we simplify the process of IoT adoption and deployment.”

The CAM solution includes advanced tracking devices with sensors and cellular communications, cloud analytics, and reporting tools as a service. Users have visibility into the conditions of the asset in transit and are immediately notified of events that can jeopardize the quality, integrity, and security of the product, such as route anomalies, temperature deviation, shock, and tilt.

KORE Announces the Launch of eSIMPro™ Device Validation Tool

This new self-service tool enables users to ensure eSIM interoperability in 15 minutes or less.

KORE, the independent global IoT leader, today announced the launch of eSIMPro, a self-service device validation tool.

The KORE eSIMPro tool, which is integrated with the KORE Connectivity Management Platform (CMP), provides technical testing to ensure a device can operate in an eSIM environment.

Failure to detect and identify device eSIM functionality issues can jeopardize the success of a project, leading to exponential cost increases and delays if incompatible devices are deployed. This makes it critically important to test a device’s eSIM interoperability before deploying to the field.

KORE eSIMPro simplifies the process of device validation. Instead of having to ship out a device and wait a few weeks for validation, eSIMPro users are able to validate devices themselves in just under 15 minutes.

Romil Bahl, President and CEO of KORE, said:

“At KORE, we take our commitment to simplifying IoT deployments seriously. We believe eSIM should be deployed with confidence, and this tool will give our customers peace of mind so they can focus on innovation.”

eSIMPro offers two ways to check a device’s eSIM-to-network compatibility. Extended Validation runs a thorough check of the device’s compatibility with the eSIM protocol, while Quick Validation runs a simple diagnostic with one eSIM command to verify connectivity has not been affected. Users have access to a validation history, which provides historic test data as well as real-time information on all ongoing validations.

“With eSIMPro, it’s never been easier for our eSIM customers to ensure interoperability and validate devices. We’re proud to offer this value-added service, which complements our existing KORE carrier certification services,” said Marco Bijvelds, Senior Vice President EAP at KORE.

KORE offers a single, carrier-agnostic eSIM that can be deployed as either an embedded or removable card. KORE eSIMs can operate in a wide range of environments, can be programmed remotely based on GSMA eSIM specifications, and include support for value-added services and comprehensive eSIM management. KORE offers a complimentary starter kit for those looking to get started with eSIM.

KORE and Dexcom Partner to Bring Innovative Solution in Response to Global Pandemic

Remote Patient Monitoring of COVID-Positive Patients with Diabetes Reduces HCP Exposure and Use of Personal Protective Equipment.

KORE, the independent global IoT leader, today announced an ongoing partnership with Dexcom, Inc., the world leader in continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), to rapidly deliver an innovative remote patient monitoring solution to assist care providers during the COVID-19 global pandemic.

Using the Dexcom G6 CGM system, healthcare professionals can reduce both the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the number of in-person glucose level checks on patients who are receiving care for COVID-19 in the hospital.

In order to successfully monitor the glucose levels of patients who are being treated for COVID-19, healthcare professionals (HCPs) must equip themselves with fresh personal protective equipment (PPE) for each visit. Patients on insulin need several glucose checks per day, up to one per hour – meaning multiple PPEs are discarded each day, for each patient. With many hospitals and healthcare workers already experiencing a shortage or lack of proper PPE, the risk of exposure and infection grows significantly – as do the costs.

Dexcom’s solution allows for continuous glucose monitoring by measuring glucose levels automatically every five minutes and transmitting the data to a handheld mobile device, which can be accessed from a safe distance. HCPs can then safely and accurately monitor blood glucose levels remotely – only using one set of PPE daily in order to change out the device, or other times immediate intervention is necessary.

“Doing all that we can to support the health and safety of the patients and healthcare workers currently battling this novel virus is a top priority for our company,” said Matt Dolan, senior vice president and general manager at Dexcom. “It’s our hope to reduce their exposure, eliminate unnecessary waste of limited PPE supplies, and improve the efficiency of the hospitals who are treating these patients.”

Dexcom approached KORE Health to help launch this solution with record speed in order to maximize protection for areas that need it most. In reference to the project, Bryan Lubel, EVP of IoT Managed Services, commented:

“KORE Health was able to procure fully certified and ISO-compliant devices, complete engineering testing and approval, identify connectivity solutions and deploy the first wave of equipped devices in just over a week – ensuring rapid speed-to-market for this critical solution.”

“We are in an unprecedented situation and the KORE team is looking for ways to help,” commented Romil Bahl, President & CEO at KORE. “When the Dexcom team approached us to help in short timeframes, our healthcare team was up to the challenge.”

“We are honored that our knowledge and experience in connectivity and device procurement, certification, and deployment is playing a role in this innovative solution and that we are able to help in the global war against COVID-19. Our greatest thanks to both Dexcom and our front-line warriors as they take on this invisible enemy.”

“We are grateful to the team at KORE for meeting our requirements in such a short time in order to quickly launch this solution,” said Dolan. “Together, we will continue to do whatever we can to help those on the front lines fight this novel coronavirus.”

KORE Announces Next Stage in Evolution of its Vertical Market IoT Strategy

Integration of recent acquisitions helps deliver robust industry solution sets.

KORE today unveiled its unprecedented strength and capabilities in new, specialized vertical markets, underscored by the company’s mission to help the world’s most innovative brands deploy, manage, and securely scale IoT solutions.

The company brings expertise and IoT integration services to solution provider and enterprise customers serving the following industries: healthcare, life sciences, asset management, fleet management, and manufacturing/industrial IoT.

KORE is leveraging the power of its recent acquisitions to showcase its end-to-end solution capabilities in key verticals. The December acquisition of Integron, for example, allows KORE to bring the industry’s most powerful healthcare IoT solution set to market. “We are entirely cognizant of the role of our solution provider customers. Their knowledge of the industry use case is critical to credibly providing the end solution to their customers,” said KORE President & CEO, Romil Bahl.

“However, neither our solution provider customers nor our enterprise customers should be trying to do everything themselves. As IoT use cases mature and accelerate, time-to-market will be increasingly important to how well our customers can compete. We at KORE help tremendously with IoT adoption, scaling, and speed-to-benefits. Today we are saying, more confidently than ever before, that KORE is the quintessential integrator for our customers’ IoT needs.”

KORE’s focus will be to support all of the behind-the-scenes details that go into making an IoT solution a success so that its customers, both solution providers, and enterprises, can focus extensively on the experience of their end-user customers, and maximize the value of the data relative to their respective verticals.

Specifically, KORE is launching the following industry solution areas:

  • KORE Health: Leveraging the power of the Integron acquisition to deliver robust solutions including managed services such as remote patient monitoring and care enablement that require full compliance with FDA and ISO 9001 and 13485 requirements

  • KORE Industrial: Incorporating solutions that improve uptime, automate field service activities, manage inventory, and build predictive models; deploying a “global SKU” eSIM or eUICC solution for all manufacturers who are deploying connected products globally

Bahl continued:

“Our strategic acquisitions continue to bear fruit, and as a result, KORE is now uniquely positioned to deliver secure solutions that enable these industry use cases and markets. This level of focus, however, is only possible with the strength of KORE’s underlying technology and the KORE One platform which help our customers simplify complexity, accelerate deployments and maximize ROI.”
