Quectel Wireless Solutions, a global IoT solutions provider, is delighted to announce the commercial availability of the RG255C-GL 5G RedCap Sub-6 GHz LGA module, delivering comprehensive 5G and 4G coverage across the globe.

Based on Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.’s Snapdragon® X35 baseband chipset, the RG255C-GL offers exceptional wireless performance, empowering seamless low-latency 5G communication and advanced features including 5G LAN, URLLC, and network slicing.

The RG255C-GL, conforming to 3GPP Release 17 standards, features a compact LGA form factor measuring 32.0mm x 29.0mm x 2.4mm. With impressive data rates of 223 Mbps downlink and 123 Mbps uplink, it is tailored for applications such as CPEs, MiFi, Router, Gateway, or Industrial PDA. Additionally, this module supports LTE Cat 4 and 5G Sub-6 SA mode, ensuring compatibility with Rel-15 and Rel-16 networks for seamless integration and versatile deployment.

Furthermore, the module is compatible with Quectel 4G module EG2x series modules with smaller sizes, which can meet customers’ different application demands for medium speed, large capacity, low latency, and high reliability, making it ideal for customers to design in to current device applications.

“Having the RG255C-GL 5G RedCap module commercially available offers our customers access to the benefits of 5G without the accompanying expense and power consumption,” commented Norbert Muhrer, President and CSO, Quectel Wireless Solutions.

RG255C-GL is designed for the global market and covers nearly all the mainstream carriers worldwide. The module features Qualcomm® IZat™ location technology, offering GPS, GLONASS, BDS, and Galileo positioning functionalities. With its integrated GNSS receiver, customers can streamline their product design while enjoying enhanced positioning capabilities with greater speed and accuracy.

A wide range of interfaces including USB 2.0, PCle 2.0, PCM, UART, SGMII and SPI alongside a large number of drivers means that this module is ideal for a wide range of RedCap applications.

Quectel prioritizes security throughout the development of its IoT modules. Starting from product architecture to firmware/software development, Quectel integrates top industry practices and standards to address potential vulnerabilities. They collaborate with third-party independent test houses to mitigate risks and implement security measures such as generating SBOMs and VEX files, as well as conducting firmware binary analysis throughout the entire software development lifecycle.

The RG255C-GL RedCap module will be available alongside a series of antennas, providing developers with the ability to purchase module and antennas at the same time, reducing cost and time to market.

Quectel unveils its HCM511S high performance MCU Bluetooth module to power Low Energy compact connected devices

Quectel Wireless Solutions, a global IoT solutions provider, is pleased to announce the launch of the HCM511S high-performance MCU Bluetooth module for compact connected devices such as digital keys, portable devices and battery-operated motion sensors.

Utilizing Bluetooth Low Energy 5.4, the module accommodates an ARM Cortex-M33 processor and features built-in 32KB RAM and either 352KB or 512KB flash memory to deliver efficient performance.

The HCM511S module features excellent receiver sensitivity, a maximum transmit power of +6 dBm to achieve long distance transmission and has been designed to enable compact, low-power devices to connect cost effectively. Measuring just 16.6mm x 11.2mm x 2.1mm, the HCM511S is in the ultra-compact LCC form factor in order to optimize size and cost for end-products. Ideal applications for the HCM511S include sports & fitness devices, PC peripherals and accessories, healthcare applications including blood pressure and glucose metering, indoor navigation, digital key, connected lighting control and smart home and smart building applications.

“We’re delighted to bring the compact, high-performance HCM511S Bluetooth Low Energy MCU module to the market,” says Norbert Muhrer, President and CSO, Quectel Wireless Solutions.

“Everything from digital keys to barbecue thermometers, heart rate monitors and smart locks can be supported by the HCM511S. For battery-powered devices such as Bluetooth remote controls or electronic shelf labels, the high-power efficiency of the module will be an added benefit.”

Critically, the HCM511S module offers the option of support for Bluetooth mesh network low-power nodes. This enables increased network scalability and node counts over mesh topology, enabling greater device density to be enabled. The module offers up to 18 GPIOs which can be multiplexed for various interfaces including ADC, USART, I2C, I2S, SPI and PWM to maximize developer design options.

Connecting via a PCB Bluetooth antenna, the high-performance product operates in industrial grade operating temperature ranges of -40 °C to +85 °C and weighs just 0.57g. The HCM511S is certified for use in Europe, America, Canada, China, Australia and New Zealand and is also a certified Bluetooth product by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group.

The module also supports Secure Vault®, an enhanced secure engine for a higher level of IoT security. Quectel’s IoT modules are developed with security at the core. From product architecture to firmware/software development, Quectel incorporates leading industry practices and standards, mitigating potential vulnerabilities with third party independent test houses and have incorporated security practices like generating SBOMs and VEX files as well as performing firmware binary analysis into the entire software development lifecycle.

Quectel Introduces Versatile BG95-S5 NTN Satellite Communication Module

Quectel Wireless Solutions, a global IoT solutions provider, today announces the launch of the Quectel BG95-S5 3GPP non-terrestrial network (NTN) satellite communication module.

The module supports 3GPP Release 17 IoT-NTN in the S and L band frequencies for satellite communications. In addition, the multi-mode BG95-S5 supports LTE Cat M1, Cat NB2, eGPRS and integrated GNSS.

With a cost-effective SMT form factor measuring 23.6 mm × 19.9 mm × 2.2 mm, the BG95-S5 is ideal for space constrained use cases that need to be able to access multiple types of network technology. With NTN satellite communication growing in popularity as constellations are built, having the capability to connect via NTN, cellular and GNSS offers significant flexibility for designers. It ensures devices will be able to find connections regardless of their deployment location or whether NTNs are available at the moment of communication.

Norbert Muhrer, President and CSO, Quectel Wireless Solutions says:

A further benefit is the module’s low power consumption and extended temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C. For developers and designers, Quectel supports accelerated time-to-market with reference designs, evaluation tools and technical support all available to assist development efforts. Certification procedures are underway for Skylo’s NTN, North American cellular carriers and regulatory certification in Europe, North America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

The module shares identical pin assignments with other variants in the BG95 series, facilitating seamless migration for device manufacturers to NTN networks. A comprehensive array of Internet protocols, industry-standard interfaces, and diverse functionalities greatly enhance the module’s versatility, enabling its integration into various M2M applications.

Quectel Wireless Solutions, a global IoT solutions provider, has made further additions to its comprehensive range of antennas for IoT devices and deployments.

The latest launches include the YEMN016AA and YEMN017AA 5G 5-in-1 combination antennas, the YECN001J1A and YECT000WBA external 5G antennas and the YEGB000Q1A and YEGN000Q1A active GNSS L1 and L5 antennas.

The YEMN016AA is a 5G and global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) 5-in-1 antenna measuring 204.4mm x 86.7mm x 32mm. This ultra-wide-band 5G/4G antenna provides broad coverage from 600–6,000MHz whilst offering backward-compatibility to support 3G and 2G networks as well as LTE Cat-M and narrowband IoT (NB-IoT). The antenna is available with connection via five cable lengths from 300–5,000 mm, terminated with SMA connectors. This low profile, screw mount omnidirectional antenna, ideal for applications where the antenna is required to be discrete, is easy to install with maximum durability assured thanks to its IP69K PC KIBILAC® ASA enclosure. It is compatible with Quectel’s RM520x Series modules.

The Quectel YEMN017AA is a 5G screw mount 5-in-1 antenna puck optimized for 5G and 4G networks. With a diameter of 103.5mm and height of 42.5mm, the antenna can integrate a variety of antennas, such as 5G, 4G, GNSS and Wi-Fi antennas. Available with multiple mounting options including screw, pole, wall, magnetic, adhesive and others, the antenna box supports multiple connector types and cable lengths and is designed to offer a more flexible and reliable high-performance antenna for outdoor applications.

Quectel has also added the YECN001J1A and YECT000WBA external 5G antennas to its portfolio. Both antennas cover the 5G NR Sub-6 GHz frequency bands and are compatible with 4G, 3G, 2G and LPWA bands. Featuring high efficiency and gain, both offer an ideal omni-directional antenna solution to ensure high-speed data transmission. Ideal for a diversity of wireless communication devices such as routers, outdoor equipment and real-time monitoring equipment, the antennas feature a diameter of 40.6mm and height of 104mm. The antennas are both RoHS and REACH compliant and Quectel offers flexible installation with custom cable length and connector options.

For users prioritizing GNSS, Quectel has introduced the YEGB000Q1A and YEGN000Q1A active GNSS L1 and L5 antennas. Operating in the 1164-1189MHz and 1559-1606MHz frequency bands these antennas measure 62mm x 56mm x 23mm. The antennas support different installation or connection methods such as screw mount, adhesive mount, magnetic mount, internal cable, and external SMA. Customized connector types and cable lengths are provided according to requirements.

In common with all Quectel antennas, Quectel provides comprehensive antenna design support such as simulation, testing and manufacturing for custom antenna solutions to meet customers’ specific application needs. In addition, Quectel antennas can be pre-integrated with Quectel’s vast range of modules.

Quectel Wireless Solutions, a global IoT solutions provider, today announces that, according to a recent milestone report by Finite State, an independent third-party cybersecurity firm, nearly 95% of all Quectel modules shipped to the United States since the beginning of 2022 have industry-leading security scores based on penetration testing and binary analysis by Finite State.

The report highlights a notable enhancement in Quectel’s security position, expanding the number of modules tested and with scores across the tested modules improving from an average of 33 to 18, up from an average of 62 to 24 in previous testing. This represents a substantial improvement, as both the initial and revised scores significantly surpass the industry average of 98 with the lowest (best) score of 10. Further, the number of and severity of vulnerabilities Finite State did identify in Quectel products or modules are significantly less than the industry standard and revealed a very limited attack surface. Those issues Finite State did discover have been quickly remedied by Quectel.

This advanced phase of testing leverages Finite State’s security technologies and expertise to conduct an exhaustive third-party evaluation of Quectel’s modules. The advanced testing encompasses an array of sophisticated security assessments designed to fortify Quectel’s modules against the evolving landscape of cyber threats, including binary analysis of numerous Quectel products and both penetration testing and binary analysis of several Quectel cellular modules.

Quectel Wireless Solutions, a global IoT solutions provider, and MediaTek have announced that the globally certified Quectel RG620T 5G module, based on the MediaTek T830 platform, and MediaTek BE7200 Wi-Fi7 modules, based on the MediaTek Wi-Fi7 chipset, have been adopted for mass commercial roll-out in Australia.

This deployment is the first commercial, massive volume production use case for the RG620T and will bring 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) to end users across Australia.

The Quectel RG620T is a series of 5G Sub-6GHz modules designed to support IoT and extended mobile broadband (eMBB) use cases. The module offers maximum data rates over 5G standalone networks of 7.01Gbps downlink and 2.5Gbps uplink. For non-standalone networks, the module offers data rate of 5.67Gbps downlink and 1.46Gbps uplink. Measuring 44.0 x 53.0 x 2.95mm, the module has an operating temperature range of -30 °C to +70 °C, with extended temperature variants also available. In addition, the module can be customized to meet the requirements of specific carriers.

The Quectel RG620T has been developed with carriers’ FWA needs in mind with use cases such as customer premise equipment, home and enterprise gateways and mobile hotspots prioritized. The MediaTek T830 system on chip has been selected because it features four high-performance ARM Cortex-A55 CPUs and can provide customer premise equipment with additional CPU capacity inside the modem. The MediaTek platform also allows for maximized cost effectiveness because the chipset is matched with a Wi-Fi solution thereby reducing cost if purchased at the same time. In addition, the MediaTek platform allows for cellular and Wi-Fi to co-exist in the same device, broadening its appeal and applicability.

Wi-Fi 7 offers a significant advancement in wireless technology, providing a multitude of benefits to consumers. One of its key advantages is higher throughput, which means faster data transfer speeds for streaming, gaming, and other online activities. This is complemented by the ability to handle more concurrent users without compromising the network’s performance, making it ideal for busy households or public spaces with many connected devices. Additionally, WiFi 7 boasts higher bandwidth, enabling the seamless handling of high-demand applications and services. It also integrates 5G capabilities, allowing users to leverage the strengths of both 5G and WiFi 7 for more innovative and demanding application scenarios.

“We’ve been working with Quectel as a long-term partner to explore pioneering technology and provide faster, more stable 5G products to markets across the world,” said Evan Su, General Manager of Wireless Communications Business Unit at MediaTek. “Our T830 and Filogic 680 chipsets provide the foundation for the Quectel RG620T and are now powering mobile broadband connectivity for users in Australia.”

Additionally, the T830 supports advanced features of 3TX (Transmit Antennas) and 8RX (Receive Antennas), which greatly enhances uplink and downlink speed, spectral efficiency, coverage quality and therefore delivers stable and super-fast 5G speeds even in complex indoor and outdoor environments. The T830’s 3TX and 8RX features fully comply with tier-one carrier roadmap and requirement. Quectel can also provide a module for the requirement for these features.

Quectel Wireless Solutions, a global IoT solutions provider, has unveiled a new portfolio of Wi-Fi 7 modules that are ideal for PC OEMs looking to support Wi-Fi 7 in their devices’ connectivity technology options.

The expanded Quectel Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 modules range includes the Quectel NCM825, NCM825A, NCM835, NCM865 and NCM865A. All of the new modules offer support for Intel and AMD x86 platforms as well as the Snapdragon® X Elite platform for leading Windows PC experiences.

The Quectel NCM825, NCM835 and NCM865 series modules utilize a Qualcomm® FastConnect™ 7800 Mobile Connectivity system from Qualcomm Technologies and support simultaneous operation on the 2.4GHz plus 5GHz and 2.4GHz plus 6 GHz frequency bands thanks to 2 x 2 MIMO with dual band simultaneous (DBS) capability. The NCM865 and NCM865A chipsets feature High Band Simultaneous (HBS) technology, which enhances wireless communication by minimizing interference within the high-frequency spectrum. This advancement contributes to a more efficient use of bandwidth, resulting in decreased latency and an increase in data throughput. The modules also support multi-link operation (MLO), a feature that allows routers to use multiple wireless bands and channels at the same time to connect to a Wi-Fi 7 client. MLO enables the NCM8x5 series to achieve a faster data rate, much lower latency and higher network reliability for users.

In addition, the new modules support 4K-QAM and 320MHz bandwidth which enables them to achieve a maximum data rate of 5.8Gbps, allowing the ultra-low latency and real-time response that laptop use cases demand. The modules also integrate and support dual Bluetooth, 2Mbps Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), LE audio and BLE Long Range.

The Quectel NCM825 series measures 16.0mm x 20.0mm x 1.80mm, while the NCM865 series measures 22.0mm x 30.0mm x 2.25mm. The modules operate in the -10 °C to +65 °C temperature range and variants are certified by regulators across the globe.

Quectel Wireless Solutions, a global IoT solutions provider, is pleased to announce the launch of two new Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules, the FCU741R and the FCS950R, along with two Bluetooth modules, the HCM010S and the HCM111Z.

This expansion of Quectel’s module portfolio aims to empower designers and developers with an expanded array of options, catering to diverse needs in terms of size, cost, and power efficiency. As a result, Quectel continues to demonstrate its commitment to meeting the evolving requirements of the IoT industry, providing innovative solutions for a variety of use cases.

“Adding the Quectel FCU741R, FCS950R and HCM010S to our portfolio enables developers and designers to select the module that best suits the needs of their use case,” said Norbert Muhrer, President and CSO, Quectel Wireless Solutions. “The combination of low power, efficient design, compact size and high-performance makes these modules ideal for many IoT use cases.”

The Quectel FCU741R is a high-performance Wi-Fi 4 module for wireless LAN connections that supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies to deliver a maximum data rate of 150Mbps. Measuring just 13.0mm x 12.2mm x 2.25mm the module has been designed to provide an optimal combination of size and cost for end products, making it ideal for size-sensitive applications. In addition, the module’s design minimizes design-in time and development effort, enabling faster time-to-market.

The module also offers an operating temperature range of -20 °C to +70 °C and a reliable USB2.0 interface. It supports two antenna designs, first generation RF coaxial connector and pin antenna interface with surface-mount technology (SMT) that makes the FCU741R an ideal option for durable and rugged designs.

The Quectel FCS950R is a Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2 module that can support a wide range of commercial applications thanks to its SDIO 3.0 interface which supports low power consumption and high-speed data transmission. The module is also compact, measuring just 12.0mm x 12.0mm x 2.35mm and weighs 0.58g. Offering support for IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, the FCS950R delivers a maximum data rate of up to 433.3Mbps in 802.11ac mode.

In common with the FCU741R, the FCS950R has been designed to address size-constrained deployments and its SMT technology makes it suitable for rugged designs. The module’s advanced package and the laser-engraved label achieve better heat dissipation and its indelible markings allow for large-scale automated manufacturing, which has a positive impact on cost and efficiency. The FCS950R also offers an operating temperature range of -20 °C to +70 °C.

Quectel has also launched the Quectel HCM010S, high-performance MCU Bluetooth module which boasts an ARM Cortex M33 processor and supports both Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Bluetooth Mesh technologies. The module features built-in 64KB SRAM and 768KB flash, ensuring efficient performance. The HCM010S is provided in a LCC + DIP form factor with an ultra-compact size of 20.0mm × 15.6mm × 2.4mm.

Able to operate in temperatures from -40 °C to +105 °C, the Quectel HCM010S supports standard Bluetooth mesh network and is suitable for BLE devices that enable many-to-many communications for use cases in smart lighting, smart building and smart home wireless networks. The module also supports Tx power up to +20dBm for longer transmission range ensuring robust and reliable communication. Importantly, the module offers Secure Vault, an enhanced security option that features a higher level of IoT security.

Finally, the Quectel HCM111Z stands out as a high-performance MCU Bluetooth module, equipped with a Cortex-M3 processor running at a frequency of up to 48MHz. The module supports BLE 5.3, delivering an impressive maximum data rate of 2 Mbps. With built-in 48 KB SRAM and 512 KB flash, the module ensures efficient and reliable performance. The HCM111Z is equipped with a built-in Codec that enables microphone pickup and audio playback. This feature makes it well-suited for integration into smart devices such as voice-controlled remote controls, smart toy cars, sports and health gadgets, and home appliances.

Measuring a mere 15.0 mm × 12.0 mm × 2.25 mm in size, the HCM111Z is an ultra-compact Bluetooth module. It boasts support for up to 13 GPIOs, facilitating UART, SWD, SPI, I2C, ADC, PWM, and I2S functions within the QuecOpen® solution. Additionally, it features Bluetooth low power mode, enhancing flexibility and adaptability for various applications, particularly in smart homes and industrial IoT scenarios.

The expanded Quectel Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 modules range includes the Quectel NCM825, NCM825A, NCM835, NCM865 and NCM865A. All of the new modules offer support for Intel and AMD x86 platforms and Qualcomm’s SC8380XP Windows on Snapdragon (WoS) platforms.

Quectel Announces RG255G MediaTek-Based Module to Drive 5G RedCap Preparations

Quectel Wireless Solutions, a global IoT solutions provider, today announces the Quectel RG255G, a 5G RedCap MediaTek-based module.

5G Redcap, which is short for reduced capability, is a 5G variant defined in 3GPP Release 17 that combines the low latency and reliability of 5G with features such as network slicing in a cost-competitive chipset design with a lightweight architecture. For deployments that would benefit from these attributes but do not need the full capabilities of 5G, RedCap provides an elegant and cost-effective option.

The module, which is the world’s first 5G modem-RF system-on-chip (SoC), features MediaTek’s 5G RedCap UltraSave capability which results in 60% lower power consumption compared to existing 4G IoT modems, 70% lower power consumption compared to 5G extended mobile broadband (eMBB) modems and an additional 10% power saving with Release 17 power saving features enabled.

“We’re delighted to announce the Quectel RG255G 5G Red Cap module which will enable customers to access many of the advantages of 5G without having to accept the full cost and power demands of the technology,” said Norbert Muhrer, President and CSO, Quectel Wireless Solutions.

“We see 5G RedCap enabling a wide range of IoT use cases and applications that demand ultra-reliable low latency communications (URLLC) and network slicing.”

The Quectel RG255G offers downlink performance of 220Mbps and uplink performance of 121Mbps on 256QAM or 91Mbps on 64QAM. Available in three form factors, LGA, M.2, Mini PCIe, the RG255G family operates in 20MHz bandwidth and offers support for LTE Cat 4 as well as GNSS. The modules also offer multiple interfaces including USB 2.0 and PCIe 1.0.

“The T300 series is the world’s first 6nm radio frequency system-on-chip (RFSOC) single die solution for RedCap,” said Evan Su, General Manager of Wireless Communications Business Unit at MediaTek. “We see RedCap as a key means to democratize access to 5G features, providing our customers with the ability to optimize components and deliver 5G enabled devices for a wide range of applications at various price points.”

The RG255G module is ideal for applications that include power monitoring, point of sale, industrial automation, smart energy and smart grid, mid-speed mobile broadband and wearable devices.

Quectel’s IoT modules are developed with security at the core. From product architecture to firmware/software development, Quectel incorporates leading industry practices and standards, mitigating potential vulnerabilities with third party independent test houses and have incorporated security practices like generating SBOMs and VEX files as well as performing firmware binary analysis into the entire software development lifecycle.

The RG255G series will be available alongside a series of antennas, providing developers with the ability to purchase module and antennas at the same time, reducing cost and time to market.

The module series has been developed to meet growing needs for smart modules which can support not only connectivity but also a variety of functions, such as edge computing capability, graphics processing, multimedia and operation of peripherals such as displays, cameras and touch panels. The modules feature a built-in up- to-date Android operating system and are based on the Qualcomm® QCM4490 64-bit octa-core processor from Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.

Offering comprehensive cellular connectivity options including worldwide 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G coverage, with LTE Cat 15 and both 5G Release 16 standalone (SA) and 5G non-standalone (NSA), the modules offer 5G and LTE multiple input multiple output (MIMO) technology. This enables them to address growing market demands for high data rate and link reliability for wireless communications. The utilization in MIMO of multiple antennas at the receiver end at the same time and on the same frequency band significantly minimizes errors and optimizes data speed.

In addition, the smart modules offer Bluetooth 5.2 and the option of a multi-constellation global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receiver for applications that require fast and accurate fixes in any environment.

Designed for industrial and consumer applications that require high data rates and support for powerful multimedia functions, typical use cases include smart gateways, customer premise equipment (CPE), Mi-Fi devices, point of sale (POS) terminals, cash registers, dashcam, digital signage and industrial PDAs etc.

Available in a 42.5mm x 56.5mm x 2.95mm LGA package, the SG520B Series has an operating temperature range of -35 °C ~ +75 °C. The modules will support NSA/SA with maximum 5G downlink speeds up to 2.5Gbps and uplink speeds up to 900Mbps. For 5G NSA deployments, the modules will support 2.5Gbps downlink and 550Mbps uplink, again depending on which regional variant is selected. The modules also support 1080p H.265/H.264 video encoding and decoding.

Quectel, a global IoT solutions provider, has unveiled six new antennas designed to provide robust connectivity performance for IoT devices.

The new antennas cover a wide range of use cases from 5G to non-terrestrial networks (NTNs) bringing new capabilities to customers.

“Internet of Things applications increasingly demand high-performance antennas that meet their specific needs whether that’s for competitive cost, access to specific network technologies in particular frequency bands or for robust, safe characteristics such as IP ratings and RoHS and REACH compliance.”

“The expanded Quectel antenna range is sure to meet the needs of your device and deployment and is backed by our design support and deployment experience, alongside, of course, our widely deployed and comprehensive range of modules.”

The Quectel YC0001CA is a 4G surface-mount design (SMD) antenna that is optimized for LTE, LTE-M and Narrow Band-IoT (NB-IoT) networks. This low-profile antenna, which measures just 35.0 x 8.5 x 3.0mm, operates in the 700-960MHz and 1710-2700MHz and is both RoHS and REACH compliant for use in sensitive environments. In addition, the antenna can be supplied on tape and reel for high-volume applications and is compatible with all of Quectel’s 4G, 3G, 2G and LPWA IoT modules.

The Quectel YC0018CA is a 5G SMD antenna that covers 5G New Radio (NR) Sub-6GHz frequency bands. Depending on the ground plane, the antenna is designed to be mounted directly to the printed circuit board (PCB) using a conventional PCB reflow process. Measuring 40.0 x 7.0 x 3.0mm, the antenna operates between -40 °C to +85 °C and weighs 15g. The antenna can be tuned specifically for the final device environment with a simple, PI matching circuit and, when used with other 5G antennas, it can achieve multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) performance. Also available on tape and reel, the antenna can also be supplied with the YC0018CAEVB evaluation board.

The Quectel YECN028AA is a 5G or NTN external antenna that supports the 410-470MHz, 617-960MHz and 1425-6000MHz frequency bands. With dimensions of 225 x 54.5 x 13.0mm, the antenna is IP66, RoHS and REACH compliant so it has wide applicability to use cases in sensitive environments. Featuring high efficiency and gain, the antenna offers omni-directional high-speed data transmission and can be used in a wide range of wireless devices such as access points, outdoor equipment, real-time monitoring devices and many others.

The Quectel YEMX223J1A is a 5G x 2 combo antenna that is IP67, RoHS and REACH compliant. Measuring 186.0 x 176.0 x 100.5mm, the combo antenna supports the 410-470MHz, 617-960MHz, 1420-1520MHz, 1710-2690MHz, 3300-3800MHz and 4000-6000MHz frequency bands. The ultra-wideband antenna box is also backward compatible supporting 2G and 3G networks as well as Cat-M and NB-IoT. Designed for ease of integration with connection via two cable lengths from 450-5000mm, the pole, wall suction mount omni-directional antenna offers ease of installation and durability thanks to its IP67 and IP69K compliant enclosure. Quectel offers flexible installation option with custom cable length and connector options

The Quectel YEMX425J1A is a 5G x 4 combo antenna that measures 186.0 x 176.0 x 150mm. The combo antenna supports the 410-470MHz, 617-2690 MHZ and 3300-6000MHz frequency bands and both RoHS and REACH compliant. Offering backward compatibility with 2G, 3G, Cat-M and NB-IoT, the antenna is, in common with the YEMX223J1A, compatible with Quectel’s RM520x Series of IoT modules. In addition, durability is assured thanks to the combo antenna’s IP67 and IP69K ASA enclosure.

Rounding out the latest wave of Quectel antenna introductions, the Quectel YSIS001AA, metal spring antenna operates in the 412-427MHz band, the 433-435 MHz band and the 450-470MHz band which is compatible with LTE B31 plus EU433 applications. Measuring 29.0 x 7.0 x 7.90mm, the RoHS and REACH compliant antenna is mounted to the host device PCB using the conventional SMD reflow process, offering high efficiency.

In common with all Quectel antennas, these new additions to the range also gain Quectel’s comprehensive antenna design support including simulation, testing and manufacturing for custom antenna solutions to meet customers’ specific application needs.

Quectel Wireless Solutions, a global IoT solutions provider, and MikroElektronika (MIKROE) today announced the release of the LC29H series RTK (real-time kinematic) Click Boards™.

The LC29H is a series of dual-band, multi-constellation GNSS modules that support the concurrent reception of global GNSS constellations including GPS, BDS, GLONASS and Galileo, delivering a substantial reduction in multipath interference within dense urban canyons and a remarkable improvement in positioning accuracy.

The Quectel LC29H series of GNSS modules has been designed to meet consumer mass-market requirements and enables high-precision, small form factor and low-cost devices. The modules are based on the latest L1/L5 receiver and compared to existing L1/L2 receivers, have equivalent accuracy performance but achieve 70% less power consumption and enable solutions to be 50% smaller.

The GNSS RTK 3 Click™ version features Quectel LC29HEAMD dual band (L1+L5) module. It can provide MSM4 or MSM7 RTK corrections and can be combined with the Quectel YEGM011AA Geodetic Antenna as a base station. It can also be used as a rover and can be combined with the high performance Quectel YB0017AA mobile antenna to provide centimeter-level accuracy. The combination of two boards and associated antennas can be used to facilitate a very cost-effective RTK base and rover pair with out-of-the-box centimeter-level accuracy.

The LC29H Series is engineered to excel with dual-frequency support, culminating in exceptional accuracy. In autonomous mode, it achieves impressive accuracy values of 1 meter, while the RTK-capable variants achieve centimeter-level precision. What’s more, the optional dead reckoning (DR) function ensures top-tier positioning performance, even in challenging scenarios characterized by weak signals or the absence of GNSS signals.

The LC29H Series incorporates advanced power management capabilities, ushering in an era of low-power GNSS sensing and positioning. This feature makes the module an ideal choice for applications where power efficiency is paramount, especially in battery-powered systems, including robotic lawn mowers, e-scooters, sport trackers, drones or handheld detectors such as metal detectors.

The Quectel LC29H series module and the Mikroe GNSS RTK 3 Click will be on the Quectel stand at Intergeo, Hall 1.2, stand A1.012.

Quectel empowers ZCS to revolutionize robotic lawnmowers with machine intelligence and RTK navigation

Quectel Wireless Solutions, a global IoT solutions provider, is pleased to announce that Zucchetti Centro Sistemi (ZCS) has chosen its advanced technology for their robotic lawnmowers.

The cutting-edge Twenty 29, 4.0 – 4.36 – 4.50 Elite RTK lawnmowers will feature the Quectel LG69T series GNSS module and will harness the precision of the ZCS Cloud Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) satellite navigation system.

The Quectel LG69T series features dual-band options (L1 + L5 or L1 + L2) to support up to four simultaneous global constellations, including GPS, Galileo, and BDS, alongside QZSS. Optionally, it can integrate RTK and Dead Reckoning technology, ensuring peak performance across various applications. With a navigation rate of up to 10 Hz, the LG69T series finds versatility in applications ranging from drones and delivery robots to precision agriculture, mining, marine, automotive telematics, as well as ADAS and DMS.

The LG69T-AM achieves cm-level accuracy when used with the ZCS Cloud RTK. This allows one or more robots to handle a wide working area, up to 30,000 sqm (or even 80,000 sqm under certain conditions only), with navigation accuracy to the centimeter and without the need for a perimeter wire. ZCS Cloud RTK harnesses the synergy of satellite technology and cloud platforms to consistently update the robot with its designated position within a 15 km radius, using a GPS antenna.

This translates into extreme navigation and high precision of grass cutting with up to 5 cm from the edge of the area and in narrow, hard-to-reach spaces or uneven terrain with large slopes, guaranteeing an even and precise cut across the entire area. There are several advantages including working efficiency, versatility of use and no perimeter wire installation. In addition, the integration of this innovative navigation system with new grass and ultrasonic sensors makes it possible to manage large areas with a high degree of accuracy, even in the event of signal loss.

ZCS’s Idea Lab, dedicated to research and development (R&D), aligns perfectly with Quectel’s vision to enhance the intelligence of ZCS lawnmower robots through this collaboration. RTK Cloud technology improves the transmission of information (between the robot and the cloud) and increases the accuracy of robot positioning by optimizing the autonomous navigation of robot mowers.

Currently, RTK technology is integrated into specific models within the ZCS product line-up, primarily designed for larger gardens. In the near future, there are plans to expand its availability to robots tailored for smaller to medium-sized green spaces.

The ZCS Robotic Lawnmower and Quectel LG69T module will both be on the Quectel stand at Intergeo, Hall 1.2, stand A1.012.
