CINTERION launches New Generation of MC55i M2M Module with Lower Power Consumption

CINTERION, the global leader in cellular machine-to-machine (M2M) communication modules and a Gemalto company, is launching the MC55i-W wireless M2M module.

The new module integrates an advanced 65 nanometer chipset with reduced power consumption and enhanced operating temperature ranges for reliable, anytime, anywhere wireless communications.

Available starting April 2011 and ideal for quite a number of M2M applications including secure remote monitoring, vending, and metering, the MC55i-W is compatible with previous MC55/56/55i modules and offers Full Type Approval and pre-approval by the largest global mobile network operators to enable a swift time to market for customers. To date, CINTERION has shipped more than 12 million MC55/56/55i modules to customers, including some of the world’s largest Fortune 100 companies.

The new “W” version offers the same compact form factor and easy to mount board-to-board connector as its predecessors, eliminating the need for solution redesigns and engineering fixes when adding new end points to existing M2M implementations. Backed by CINTERION’s best-in-class customer integration end-to-end support, the MC55i-W is the module of choice for M2M applications requiring reliable Quad-Band wireless communications on global GSM networks.

“CINTERION‘s market-leading wireless M2M modules are designed with an eye toward future flexibility and evolution. They address a wide range of M2M solutions, which typically operate for an average of 10 or more years,“ said Norbert Muhrer, CEO CINTERION.

“Upgrades made to the MC55/56/55i series to deliver the MC55i-W were developed with a clear focus on translating enhanced features into tangible benefits for our customer. This demonstrates our commitment to innovative product evolution over the long span of our customer’s M2M implementations.“
